How to know whether you are ready to have kids...

How To Know Whether Or Not You Are Ready To Have Kids:

MESS TEST Smear peanut butter on the sofa and curtains. Place a fish stick behind the couch and leave it there all summer.

TOY TEST Obtain a 55 gallon box of Legos (or you may substitute roofing tacks). Have a friend spread them all over the house. Put on a blindfold. Try to walk to the bathroom or kitchen. Do not scream because this would wake a child at night.

GROCERY STORE TEST Borrow one or two small animals (goats are best) and take them with you as you shop. Always keep them in sight and pay for anything they eat or damage.

DRESSING TEST Obtain one large, unhappy, live octopus. Stuff into a small net bag making sure that all the arms stay inside.

FEEDING TEST Obtain a large plastic milk jug. Fill halfway with water. Suspend from the ceiling with a cord. Start the jug swinging. Try to insert spoonfuls of soggy cereal into the mouth of the jug, while pretending to be an airplane. Now dump the contents of the jug on the floor.

NIGHT TEST Prepare by obtaining a small cloth bag and fill it with 8-12 pounds of sand. Soak it thoroughly in water. At 3:00p.m. begin to waltz and hum with the bag until 9:00p.m. Lay down your bag and set your alarm for 10:00p.m. Get up, pick up your bag, and sing every song you have ever heard. Make up about a dozen more and sing these too until 4:00a.m. Set alarm for 5:00a.m. Get up and make breakfast. Keep this up for 5 years. Look cheerful.

INGENUITY TEST Take an egg carton. Using a pair of scissors and pot of paint, turn it into an alligator. Now take a toilet paper tube and turn it into an attractive Christmas candle. Use only scotch tape and a piece of foil. Last, take a milk carton, a ping-pong ball, and an empty box of Cocoa Puffs. Make an exact replica of the Eiffel Tower.

AUTOMOBILE TEST Forget the BMW and buy a station wagon. Buy a chocolate ice cream cone and put it in the glove compartment. Leave it there. Get a dime. Stick it into the cassette player. Take a family size package of chocolate chip cookies. Mash them into the back seat. Run a garden rake along both sides of the car. There, perfect.

PHYSICAL TEST (Women) Obtain a large bean bag chair and attach it to the front of your clothes. Leave it there for 9 months. Now remove 10 of the beans. And try not to notice your closet full of clothes. You won't be wearing them for a while.

PHYSICAL TEST (Men) Go to the nearest drug store. Set your wallet on the counter. Ask the clerk to help himself. Now proceed to the nearest food store. Go to the head office and arrange for your paycheck to be directly deposited to the store. Purchase a newspaper. Go home and read it quietly for the last time.

Leaving kids in the cars...

I don't know when parents are going to learn. You don't put anything to stay in a car while you run in. What is so hard about bringing your kid in with you? If the kids are cranky then just come back the next day. It makes me angry to hear stories like this because it can be prevented.

Yesterday....

Sorry I didn't post yesterday but we went to the mountains for the day. We also had to drop my daughter off at camp. It really takes my breath away every time I see them. I have only lived in the east (always within a half an hour of one of the Great Lakes) and now I am by the mountains. It almost makes up for it. The picture is one I took at Christmas time when we were on the same stretch of road. I couldn't see the mountains this good yesterday though. I have lots of pics I took though...of the horse I cuddled up to again! And of the beautiful camp Jenny is staying at...those will come later!!

Field Trip Day!

Today we had a Field Trip...(the coolest thing is that I spelled that right!). It was like to this Pioneer village thing. I was going to upload my pics but I will put them in later. I took like 110 pictures there. The bad thing is that my recyclable batteries are dead...they won't recharge anymore. So I will have to get some more. Just another thing to spend money on. Thank goodness I have like a million writing jobs! So, we had a pancake breakfast there...pancakes good...sausage (was it even considered meat???)...orange juice good. Then we started to look around the old houses. These are all original period houses that were in the city or the surroundings and they moved them to this place. The one house there is freaky...the last time I went there I took about five pictures with a disposable and when I developed them all the pictures were there...except the ones that I took in that house! Very freaky!!

So anyways I had a fun day going on rides with the kids...cuddling with the horses. The one horse kept nuzzling against me. It was a nice feeling. Unlike other city folk (which I am not!) I was all for it. Then the other horse got mad and charged at me and the horse. He stopped at the fence and I wasn't scared. I was more scared for the kids...

So anyways, this is why I am writing...I had such a good day with the kids. Jenny was laughing and we were joking around...and I forgot how my daughter and I aren't really not getting along. But then we come home and everything is back to normal. I just want her to do the chores and she says after supper. Well she ate and they aren't done. Next it will be when Ty goes to bed. But I have to lay down with Ty and she just can't focus. So then she will be out here while I am trying to write my articles I do before I go to bed.

I never have time to relax by the end of the night. Most of the time lately I am just so pooped at night I don't finish up my work. I can't...I can't think...I am just fuming about it. Thanks for listening....

He had these wrinkles under his eyes that I loved....do we see them no?? This was how bad...it got infected and if you look really closely you can see where the ink is bleeding ....which means he put the needle in too hard....He's cute...I just want to get him fixed up....

Something stinks about this story...

I was on the USA today website looking for the new Gap ads...but anyways I didn't find them. I found this article instead and I just had to share it with you...

Site of Calif. outhouses yields mysterious artifacts

Associated Press
VENTURA, Calif. — A spot where a pair of outhouses stood 130 years ago is proving to be a treasure trove for archaeologists who braved the lingering smell in the dirt to uncover some 19th century artifacts — and a mystery.
The one-time site of privies for men and women has been built upon repeatedly. Recently, crews demolished a former school bus barn on the 3½-acre downtown site in order to build a condominium complex and a parking garage.
But first, archaeologists were called in. Beginning in late May, they started digging into the ground in a discovery effort that could last several more weeks.
They uncovered a pistol, a bowie knife, whiskey flasks, a set of false teeth, two dog skulls and a blade from a set of sheep shears.
"It might be an early crime scene," project archaeologist John Foster said. "It looks like the two dogs were decapitated. Then whoever did it dumped the skulls and the blade, thinking the women probably wouldn't be looking too hard into the bottom of the privy."

And the funniest thing about it was the pic that they included....

What is this guy really looking at?? A piece of poop?

Follow up from yesterday....Placenta Recipes

Saturday, July 21, 2007

Here is some placenta recipes that you can make....(OKAY JUST GROSS)

Roast Placenta
1-3lb fresh placenta (must be no more than 3 days old) 1 onion 1 green or red pepper (green will add colour) 1 cup tomato sauce 1 sleeve saltine crackers 1 tspn bay leaves 1 tspn black pepper 1 tspn white pepper 1 clove garlic (roasted and minced)
Method
(Preheat oven to 350 degrees)
1. Chop the onion and the pepper & crush the saltines into crumbs. 2. Combine the placenta, onion, pepper, saltines, bay leaves, white and black pepper, garlic and tomato sauce. 3. Place in a loaf pan, cover then bake for one and a half hours, occasionally pouring off excess liquid. 4. Serve and enjoy!

Placenta Cocktail
Ingredients: 1/4 cup fresh, raw placenta 8oz V-8 juice 2 ice cubes 1/2 cup carrot Method: blend at high speed for 10 seconds. Serve. A tasty thirst quencher!
Placenta Lasagne
Ingredients: 1 fresh, ground, or minced placenta, prepared as above 2 tblspns olive oil 2 sliced cloves garlic 1/2 tspn oregano 1/2 diced onion 2 tblspns tomato paste, or 1 whole tomato Method: use a recipe for lasagne and substitute this mixture for one layer of cheese. Quickly sauté all the ingredients in olive oil. Serve. Enjoy!

Placenta Spaghetti Bolognaise
Ingredients: 1 fresh placenta, prepared as above 1 tblspn butter 1 large can tomato puree 2 cans crushed pear tomatoes 1 onion 2 cloves garlic 1 tblspn molasses 1 bay leaf 1 tblspn rosemary 1 tspn each of: salt, honey, oregano, basil, and fennel Method: cut the placenta meat into bite-sized pieces, then brown quickly in the butter and olive oil. Add the rest of the ingredients and simmer for 1-1.5 hours. Serve. Yummy!

Dehydrating your placenta
Instead of cooking your placenta whole, you can dehydrate it and then add it to meals! The following method is extracted from an article entitled "Thinking About Eating Your Placenta?" by Susan James, which appeared in the winter 1996 issue of "The Compleat Mother". It was discovered posted on a newsgroup noticeboard, so we cannot absolutely guarantee its authenticity, or that it is an actual verbatim account of the magazine article.
Method:
Cut off the cord and membranes.
Steam the placenta, adding lemon grass, pepper and ginger to the steaming water. The placenta is "done" when no blood comes out when you pierce it with a fork.
Cut the placenta into thin slices (like making jerky) and bake in a low-heat oven (200-250 degrees F), until it is dry and crumbly (several hours).
Crush the placenta into a powder - using a food processor, blender, mortar and pestle, or by putting it in a bag and grinding it with rocks.
Put the powder into empty gel caps (available at drug and health food stores) or just add a spoonful to your cereal, blender drink, etc.
The recommended doses vary, some suggest up to 4 capsules a day, others just one. Perhaps the best advice is to take what makes you feel good.

Is it just me or is this just a little silly??? I mean I wouldn't eat the darn thing. But I would plant it...

The weather is driving me crazy!

Thursday, July 19, 2007

So here I am...still sweating up a storm. Air conditioned stores are my favorite place to be! I went out with my son last night to MacDonalds...I love that Big Mac....he didn't eat much but we took the french fries home and he ate them later. He loves the cold french fry. Silly guy. So since I love thinking about food ... here is the next quiz....

You Are Smores

You've got personality - no one's denying that!

DAY 3...

It is day three that my daughter is gone. It seems weird without her around. MY son is driving me crazy. He cries for her most of the day. IT is STILL very hot here. I wish that we could just have a little relief...it has been overcast most of the day so I hope it rains. I am making supper for the two of us but I would rather just go across the road to Subway! Subs have always been my downfall. When I was pregnant with my daughter I would walk 5 blocks to just get one Subway sub.

What have been some of your weird cravings?? (I think my weirdest was turkey and whipped cream!)

It's still blazing hot here...

It is so hot here still...last night we had a tornado warning. It was the first for this city. I was out on the patio with my husband watching the clouds swirl. I thought at least I would see the tornado coming. But it disappeared and we didn't get that much rain even. Today it is supposed to rain all afternoon. I hope it happens because then the humidity will go away.

My daughter is off to camp. She left yesterday. It is crazy here without her. I have to do all her chores plus play with my son. Man oh man...he isn't making it easy for me to work. I just started a new writing job this morning and I was all nervous about it...and Ty wouldn't let me do anything!

Sometimes working at home really sucks. My house is my big office....

SO since I can't get eating out of my mind lately...here is today's quiz...

You Are a Ham Sandwich

You are quiet, understated, and a great comfort to all of your friends.
Over time, you have proven yourself as loyal and steadfast.
And you are by no means boring. You do well in any situation - from fancy to laid back.

Your best friend: The Turkey Sandwich

Your mortal enemy: The Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Remember to come back and tell me what you are!

Yeah, I may help them with the Johnny Depp Obsessions site (which you need to check out!!) but I really liked working on it because the girls I work with it on it rock...not so much Johnny. But now...I don't know??? What has she done??? She's gone and converted me... So there is the picture I took of it...I really upped the contrast so you can see Johnny Depp. It really is kinda a grey color.

Sorry...I'm writing this late...

Sorry, I am writing so late. I had to go to the hospital to get the MRI done of my head and back. A while back I had these chest pains and my left hand went numb and my left eye went black. I went to see an eye doctor and they couldn't find anything so I went to go see a MS doctor. They say they are pretty confident it isn't MS but I wanted another brain scan just to make sure. The MS doctor says she thinks its just a pinched nerve in my wrist.

I am so scared of small spaces. I had a MRI in Semptember so I thought I would be ok. But this time I saw what was on me and I saw how close the walls were...I started to hyperventilate but I calmed myself down. It was so long I managed to calm myself down so much I fell asleep.

After I was done that we went out for supper at the Chinese restuarant. My husband loves it because he can eat all he wants. And boy did he ever. The people next to us were commenting on our tattoos...I don't think I look like a freak...mine are pretty small (for now, wait till I get my sleeve!). I don't think I would scare anybody. I don't know...some people don't like them.

I need a Vacation NOW!

These summer days are the hardest to be a parent. That's because the kids are out of school and there is no routine. I am so wiped everyday it seems because we don't have a routine. My son has been doing alot of crying and whining. My daughter is off to summer camp on the weekend and I know he will miss her. It will be so quiet without her around...but I need a vacation from her. She has been pushing all of the wrong buttons and I am starting to get very upset. I told her to pretend I was a mat because I felt like she was stepping (more like stomping) all over me.

What can I do?? Grit my teeth and bear it. It's all I can do. This too will pass.

You resent anyone who tries to own or control you. You refuse to be fenced in.

Why you would make a great pet: You're very smart and entertaining

Why you would make a bad pet: You're not interested in being anyone's pet!

What you would love about being a bird: Flying, obviously

What you would hate about being a bird: Being caged

So today...

This morning I went to the grocery store with my kids. I had to take both of them because I can't carry anything still. My daughter always helps me with that! Anyways...they were in this car type thing that is attached to the cart and this old man comes up to my son and makes a funny noise. My son just kinda gave him a dirty look. It really didn't seem out of the ordinary for me because stuff like that happens all the time. What got me was the young guys in front of me laughing. They were floored that this guy just came up and did that to my son. I guess that is when it hit me that people just think they can come up and touch your kids without your permission. My son hates it when we go out and people always want to talk to him...especially the old people. I just kinda say..."Sorry, my son doesn't talk to strangers."...or "He is in 'that' stage."...(what stage...the I don't want to talk to crazy people stage?) It's just like when you are pregnant and everyone wants to touch your belly. I hated that...one girl used to rub my belly like it was a crystal ball. Some people, eh???

Today...

Friday, July 6, 2007

Today was actually a nice day. It was almost something back to my normal day. I have a heck of a time trying to get back into my old routine. And now my daughter is off for the summer. We went to the library and then we went to the park and played. I got the latest Harry Potter book, The Half Blood Prince so I will be ready when the new one comes out. I have been reading the buzz on the book and I am wondering what will happen. There is no way that they will keep the ending secret because it is her last book. Who knows though may be she'll surprise us. Go girl power!!! (I have nightmares while reading Harry Potter but never from Stephen King...weird eh?)

So here is my quiz for the day. I am always wondering about past lives. If it is true and what I was....

You Were a Parrot

You are a master of language, and you use your wit to mock and tease others.
But you are also wise, and you often think carefully before you speak.

I'm deathly allergic to birds...I wonder if this is why?? Let me know what you are???

Sorry my kids ran away and I had to find them...I found them at the park a building down. They are just sooo crazy!

My Day today...

I can't believe it isn't time for bed yet. Today, has to be one of the longest days on the face of the earth for me. My kids are outside playing so I have an actual moment to take a deep breath and write.

So today is the first day without my husband at home. He told me he had to make us some money or something...anyways...the kids have been taking advantage of me ever since he left for work. They know that I can't run after them or grab their arms and walk them nicely to the house. So instead I have resorted to yelling. Even in the house. If I don't pull a muscle yelling I'll be very surprised. Do you know that you use your stomach muscles to talk?? Heck, I didn't until I tried to yell and got this sharp jutting pain.

Then there is the issue of the lump! I have a big lump that runs across my incision...ok insert your gasp here...but my husband said the incision wasn't infected, he finally was brave enough to look at it. Nothing is as good for the self esteem as your husband not wanting to look at you. But I called the doctor and they said to just keep an eye on it. I think its something like blood pooling up underneath or something. Whatever it is...that doesn't sound good!

So I must admit I did something bad today...I went for a long walk with the kids. Like 50 minutes straight. My husband keeps telling me to slow down. But you know it's hard for a mom to do that! I wanted the kids to be happy. It has been so blasting hot...it usually is in the 30's (C) for the first two weeks of July and then it cools off bad....But I wanted to do something with the kids...so I did. But now I am totally paying for it!

Thanks for being here to listen to me....

THINGS THAT ARE CANADIAN

Since it is Canada Day I thought I would tell you some of my favorite Canadian things.

Tim Hortons- There is nothing like any of their donuts and Timbits. I really like the hot chocolate.

Smarties- I had a box yesterday. There is just something about them that makes everything alright.

Canadian Tire Money- You aren't Canadian if you don't have this kicking around. I know once a year I go looking in my house for it. (Our Canadian Tire store (which is like a hardware store) gives you its own money back on a percentage of what you buy. You can only spend it in the store like real money!)
